Angela Dunham, of Crosby, was visiting her Aunt Brenda in Granbury recently and took a few photos of the bluebonnets in her yard. Dunham submitted this one, which was selected as the overall winner of the Hood County News Bonnets in Bloom contest, sponsored by Myers Automotive.
“I took this photo in my Aunt Brenda’s yard. We were visiting because she was very ill and has since passed on. I loved the red flowers peeking up; however, she always threatened to pluck them,” Dunham said. “Seeing as she never went through with it I believe she liked them as well no matter what she said! Looking back at this photo again makes me smile and think of how proud she was of her little bluebonnets.”
During the month-long contest, weekly winners were chosen and received a T-shirt. For being the overall winner, Denham wins an annual subscription to the Hood County News, $100 and a T-shirt.
Hood County News staff thanks Myers Automotive for sponsoring the contest that helps share another part of Granbury’s beauty.
