Caution: Power lines down in Cresson, other areas in county

Posted

Shortly after 1 p.m., (Thursday, July 14) Hood County emergency scanner dispatchers announced that there have been several 911 calls reporting electrical power lines down in Cresson, and the main stoplight downtown was not working as a result of the outage. Fire Marshal Jeff Young informed the HCN that high winds have also caused power lines to go down, setting off grass fires, in several other areas across the county, and emphasized everyone taking extreme caution to avoid those deadly hazards until emergency crews can make the necessary repairs. Young said that, in addition to the Cresson problems, reports of electrical power lines being down have come from Mitchell Bend Highway, Rock Harbor and DeCordova.
