Chamber to host Granbury city, school candidates forums

Posted

The Granbury Chamber of Commerce will host two candidate forums ahead of the Nov. 8 General Election.

One forum will be for candidates for the Granbury School Board of Trustees, the other will be for Granbury City Council.

The forum for school board candidates will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Lake Granbury Conference Center.

The one for Granbury City Council will be on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the same time and location.

There are three races for the Granbury School Board.

Candidates, in ballot order, are Place 5 — Terry Louvin, Billy Wimberly, and John Mark Graves; Place 6 — incumbent Barbara Townsend and Jeff Hastings; and Place 7 — Karen Lowery and incumbent Paula McDonald.

Granbury Mayor Pro Tem Trish Reiner will serve as moderator.

Two seats for the Granbury City Council will be on the ballot.

For Place 1, the mayor’s seat, incumbent Jim Jarratt is being challenged by former councilmember and former mayor pro tem Tony Mobly.

For Place 2, incumbent Eddie Rodriquez faces a challenge from Pat Abell.

The moderator for that forum will be Eric Morrow, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Tarleton State University.

No forums hosted by the chamber will be held for the two county races that will be on the ballot featuring Democratic challengers to Republican incumbents.

County Clerk Katie Lang will face Harold Granek and Commissioner Dave Eagle will face Grant Wood.

Chamber president and CEO Brian Bondy said that the chamber hosted forums for those races during the spring and that all four candidates participated.

The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 8 election is Oct. 11.
