Granbury residents will receive some assistance with their spring cleaning Saturday, April 13, with the city’s biannual bulk trash pickup day.
Items will need to be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. Residents can place their items curbside the night before, if needed.
Acceptable items for bulk trash pickup include mattresses, refrigerators, freezers, a/c units (with certification of Freon reclamation), tree limbs (if they are bundled and less than four feet long) and other household items.
There is a six-item limit per residence.
“We get lots of questions about what to curb,” Jeff Newpher, communications manager, told the Hood County News. “Up to six items is what we tell people. You can put mattresses there. You can put tree limbs that you've bundled together so that they're four foot long or less. If you have an older refrigerator you need to get someone to come and certify that the Freon, the coolant, has been taken out, and that's something you have to plan ahead to do — that's why we've been publicizing this for like a month-and-a-half.”
Newpher added that items like tires, paint, oil, liquids, construction and masonry materials will not be picked up.
“Waste Connections, they can't take paint or oils or any liquid, they won't take tires, and they won't take construction materials, like old lumber or plywood, and old sheet rock,” he said. “But there's a lot of other stuff up to six items per address that they will take.”
Bulk trash day does not affect normal residential pickup.
