David Kile passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, with his family by his side. Born Feb. 20, 1939, in Marietta, Oklahoma, he grew up in Gainesville, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1957. In 1961, his U.S. Army enlistment took him to Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, where he met Ellen, his cherished wife of 63 years.
After serving his country, David enjoyed a 35-year career with The Wall Street Journal, which afforded him an early retirement. David and Ellen left the city to enjoy a quiet life in Pecan Plantation in Granbury.
It was there where David became an avid golfer and a dedicated volunteer with the PPVFD. Captain Kile was consistently recognized and awarded for his service, which spanned over 20 years.
David is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, daughter Karen Seals, son John Kile and his wife Aika, grandsons Logan and Hadley Seals, Jordan Kile, and great-granddaughter Juniper Kile, brother Rex Kile and his wife Linda.
'Pops' was utterly devoted to his friends and family. He never wanted to bother anyone for help, yet he never refused to assist anyone who asked. His unwavering love and willingness to serve his family, friends, and all those around him made him a steadfast rock of support.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at the First Christian Church of Granbury, 2109 W. Highway 377, Granbury Texas 76049.
