An account has been set up online (gofundme.com) for anyone who would like to donate funds to assist with the immediate needs of a family of five who were displaced from their three-bedroom mobile home on Buttercup Court northeast of Granbury early Tuesday morning by a fire.

The GoFundMe account, for the family of Robert Swisher and his mother, Rusty, along with Robert’s three children, showed that $2,740 had been raised by early Thursday (Jan. 12) afternoon. The GoFundMe account page states that Swisher is a disabled Army veteran. It says that the fire began while they were asleep and destroyed “everything they own.”

Hood County Fire Marshal Jeff Young noted that the fire call came in at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. Another call, to extinguish a rekindle, was made later. The cause of the blaze has not been determined, Young noted.

In addition to the mother and her son, the other three occupants were a 19-year-old male, a 15-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, Young said. There were no injuries reported among the five occupants or the firefighters, Young added, although one pet cat died and another was missing.

Young noted that a family member indicated they had no home insurance. They were contacted by a representative of the American Red Cross for temporary housing arrangements, he added.
