Granbury City Council extends city manager’s contract

The Granbury City Council voted unanimously at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 2 to renew the contract of City Manager Chris Coffman.

The extension is for three years.

Coffman has been with the city since spring 2015.

Although the new agreement took effect on Aug. 2, Coffman’s review by the council took place in February. He stated that he was given a salary increase at that time.

Under the renewed agreement, he is paid just under $198,000 per year. He is also given a vehicle allowance of $1,000 per month as well as a cell phone and tablet computer.

“Nothing changed with the salary or compensation package at all,” Coffman said of the council’s action last week.

He stated that no one currently on the council was on the governing body when he was first hired. In light of that, he said a process recently took place in which the agreement was “cleaned up” so that the council could better understand the particulars.

With that done, “They’re good with it,” Coffman said.
