Granbury is known locally for having some of the most delicious food and unique restaurants that you can’t get anywhere else.
But now, this small town has proof of its reputation on a statewide level.
BEST DESTINATION FOR FOODIES
Granbury has recently been awarded Best Destination for Foodies – People's Choice Award 2023 by the Texas Travel Awards.
Competing with other food-favorite cities like Austin, Fredericksburg, and San Antonio, Granbury still came out on top with this honor.
“We are in such good company with other fantastic People’s Choice Winners: Best Destination for Arts & Culture – Dallas; Best Destination for Families – Grapevine; Best Destination for Outdoor Adventures – Mineral Wells, and now Granbury – Best Destination for Foodies,” said Tammy Dooley, director of Visit Granbury. “The success of the Foodie Trail promotion has been great for Granbury’s culinary tourism. Of course, the real stars are our fabulous restaurants, venues, and attractions offering great food and drinks.”
GRANBURY FOODIE TRAIL
The Granbury Foodie Trail is a promotion that was first launched in 2018 featuring “the best dining adventures in Granbury,” where guests could sample food from some of the restaurants featured on the trail, according to a 2018 article in the Hood County News.
The promotion was revamped in 2020, when the top 12 dishes from favorite local restaurants were chosen from nearly 500 votes. During this promotion, customers could keep track of the restaurants they visited via the “I Love Granbury” phone app, or by picking up a punch card at participating restaurants.
Residents who visited all 12 restaurants could earn a Foodie Trail T-shirt and would be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift certificate.
TEXAS TRAVEL AWARDS
The Texas Travel Awards shine a spotlight on the most exciting, innovative, and inviting places around the state. The 2023 winners represent unique Texas places and experiences worthy of any traveler’s itinerary, according to the Visit Granbury press release.
Texas Travel Awards asked the public to help decide four categories: the best destinations for arts & culture, families, foodies, and outdoor adventures.
“We are excited to receive this statewide recognition for Granbury,” Dooley added. “I am so proud of this staff, our visitor specialists, and volunteers who work seven days a week to ensure a great visitor experience. Our job is to let everyone know how wonderful Granbury is to visit, but to us, it’s more than that; it’s a passion.”
Winners get bragging rights, plus three spotlights — in the 2023 Texas Travel Awards magazine, on texastravelawards.com, and on Texas Travel Awards social media.
Granbury will receive its plaque at the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (TACVB) Annual Conference this summer.
