‘Grinch’ spotted as new GISD bus driver

Posted

The Grinch is a long way from Whoville as he was spotted in his new job as a Granbury ISD bus driver Friday, Dec. 15.

Jack Jackson, lead bus driver for the GISD Transportation Department, spread some early holiday cheer when he decided to fully dress up as the Grinch before starting his shift Friday morning.

“He just loves the Grinch anyway, so the entire month of December, he wears Grinch T-shirts instead of his uniform and he has every Grinch T-shirt you can imagine,” Sue Jackson, Jack’s wife, told the HCN. “We’ve always had the Grinch head, which he wears every year, and this year for the first time, he bought the full costume.”

To add to the holiday magic, the Grinch was also spotted wearing a Granbury ISD Transportation Department work badge, complete with his own headshot and the name “GRINCH” typed out below in all caps.

“He usually gives out candy,” Sue said. “This year, there were Grinch Hershey kisses. He’s been doing it for the six years that he’s worked there.”

Jack, who has been with the GISD Transportation Department for six years, said he’s “always a Grinch” and everyone knows it.

“But at this time of year, I get such a kick out of spreading it around,” he told the HCN. “I love these kids and it brings me so much joy to watch them smile.”

Sue said Jack usually drives the bus around the STEAM Academy at the Mambrino campus, adding that he loves getting to see the special education students.

“It is great,” Sue said. “They just go crazy with it. He loves being on those buses. Those are his babies.”
