Editor’s note: Much of this story was gleaned from a Hood County News article published in 2001.
Mary Lou Watkins was a mother and an author, a restaurateur and an innkeeper, and the grand matriarch of Granbury historic preservation.
Watkins died in 2001 at age 83. However, she can still be heard. The Bridge Street History Center is presenting “An Evening With Mary Lou Watkins … A Dramatic Reading in her Own Words.”
