James Wilton Green 1935 – 2025

Wilton Green, passed peacefully Nov. 28, 2025. He was 89. Born to James Herschel and Annie Irene Green in Floyd County, Texas, Dec. 15, 1935, Wilton was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong partner to his beloved wife, Betty Green.

Wilton and Betty shared a remarkable life together. They were married for 67 years before the passing of Betty March 3, 2024. Their story began when they met in the eighth grade and graduated together from Floydada High School. Married in May 1956 at the First Baptist Church of Floydada, they began a marriage marked by faith, commitment and love.

After graduating from Texas Tech University, Wilton’s career led the couple to live in several communities across the country, including locations in Texas, Kansas, Idaho, Washington and Nebraska. In time, they moved to Pecan Plantation in Granbury, Texas, where they enjoyed their retirement together.

Wilton was a proud father to three children:

Mark (Susan) Green, Dee Ann (Tom) Yount, and Cheryl (Mike) Johnson along with seven grandchildren. He is survived by his twin sister, Marceleta Box, and his sister-in-law Barbara Green, and was preceded in death by his younger brother Robert Green.

Wilton will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his commitment to education and hard work, and the lasting example he set alongside the love of his life.

A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. Jan. 17, 2026, at Ovilla United Methodist Church Cemetery in Red Oak, Texas. (Lone Star Cremation, Burleson, Texas)
