Janice Ann ‘Granny’ Campbell 1943 – 2025

Janice Ann “Granny” Campbell died Sept. 18, 2025. She was born July 9, 1943, in Clifton, Texas, to Lora and E.A. “Fat” Burreson. She lived a life centered on family, love and teaching. For many years, she guided young students as an elementary school teacher, leaving an imprint on countless lives.

She enjoyed card games, visits to the farm, and cooking meals that brought everyone together. Above all, she was the heart of her family, raising her grandchildren with devotion and providing a steady source of love, strength and wisdom.

She is survived by her daughter Angela Mays, whose children are Amber Tatum, with her children Ashtin Huber and Halle Huber; Dallas Brewer and his wife Brooke, with their children Lillie Brewer and Haven Brewer; and Caden Mays and his wife Ellis, with their daughter Jemma Mays. She is also survived by her son Scott Campbell and his wife Tracey, whose children are Sgt. Cody Campbell, USSF, with his children Emberlynn Jones and Kylan Campbell, and Kayla Campbell and her wife Madeline. Janice is further survived by her first great-great-grandchild, Bentley Huber, son of Ashtin Huber and Alexis Young, marking five generations of family touched by her love.

She is also survived by her sisters, Sue Dowlearn and Linda Gilliss, and her sister-in-law, Laura Burreson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lora and E.A. “Fat” Burreson; her brothers Gene Burreson and Leon Burreson; her sister-in-law Jeanette Burreson; and her brother-in-law Major Jim Gilliss, U.S. Army, Ret.

Janice will be remembered as a family matriarch, a teacher, and a woman who gave of herself endlessly. Her warmth and guidance will live on in all who had the blessing of knowing her.
