Kay Durham Lee 1949-2025

Posted

Kay Durham was born May 18, 1949, at Harris Hospital during the great flood of Fort Worth to R. E. Durham and Mary Kate Randle.

A Celebration of Life was at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 27 at The Wiley Center Chapel; visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 at The Wiley Center Chapel.

She spent her days tending to her goats, riding her horse, and whatever Mary Kate told her to do. She graduated from Granbury High School in 1967. She married Robert E. Lee April 17, 1968, after he came home from Vietnam. Kay was a member of many organizations throughout Granbury and surrounding areas: Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames, Beta Sigma Phi, Hood County Crime Stoppers and the Salvation Army which she was very passionate about. She volunteered at the Civil War Museum in Fort Worth for many years and even sat on the board. She held many jobs in her life but the one she talked about most was at TU Power Plant where she was the secretary for Mr. Kuykendahl. Kay loved her country, her community, going to the rodeo, law enforcement, all veterans, wildlife and her kitties. She enjoyed going to Granbury Live and eating lunch with law enforcement officers. She made countless donations to many places in her years. Her favorite was with the DAR schools.

In lieu of flowers, she would like donations made in her name to Hindman Settlement School, 51 Center Street, P.O. Box 844, Hindman, KY 41822.

Kay Durham Lee was predeceased by her husband Robert, her mom Mary Kate, her brother Randy, Uncle Sam Massey who always tried to take care of Kay, Aunt JoAnn Massey, Aunt Peggy, cousins Steven Massey and Allen Massey.

She is survived by her cousins, Murray Randle and his wife Sally, Curtis, Dustin Massey, Lauren Massey, Amanda Shaw and the twins Cindy and Emily Massey; and her chosen sons and daughter, Tim Dashner and Lance Abbott and Kishla Hackler.
