Lenora Lapp Lister, known affectionately as Noni, passed away peacefully Dec. 17, 2024, at the age of 100. Born June 14, 1924, in Eden, she spent her life surrounded by family and friends, most recently residing in Granbury.
Lenora graduated cum laude from the University of Houston at the age of 40, showcasing her commitment to education and lifelong learning. She made her mark as a sixth grade teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, sharing her passion for knowledge with her students. In her personal life, she embraced the joys of gardening, cooking and traveling, often entertaining friends and family with her culinary skills. Every Christmas, she lovingly baked her daughters' favorite cookies and fudge, creating cherished traditions that her family will always remember.
Throughout her life, Lenora lived in over five states, journeying around the world alongside her husband, Lis, during his service in the U.S. Air Force. She was a pillar of strength as they endured the challenges of the Great Depression and World War II; Lis, a bombardier, was the only survivor of his crew after being shot down on the first day of the war.
An avid reader and skilled poker player, Lenora brought joy and laughter to family gatherings, where happy hours and games were a testament to her vibrant spirit. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Toni Belew and Delores Collins, and a passionate supporter of Florida State University football, proudly dressing up for games to cheer on her beloved Seminoles.
Lenora will be remembered for her hard work, unwavering love for her family, and the indelible mark she left on the lives of those who knew her. As the last surviving child of Richard and Bonnie Lapp, her legacy of resilience and joy will continue to inspire future generations.
