A man who was tubing Saturday on Lake Granbury while being pulled by a personal watercraft was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth after striking a boat dock near the Oak Trail Shores subdivision, according to Game Warden Preston Whisenhunt.
Whisenhunt said that the man’s injuries did not seem to be life-threatening. He suffered injuries to his torso including possible broken bones, Whisenhunt said.
A social media post by the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department stated, “The swimmer was being pulled on a tube by a (PWC) and was swung into a boat dock at a high rate of speed. The swimmer suffered several traumatic injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to Fort Worth.”
Whisenhunt added that the investigation is ongoing, and it isn’t known at this point if any charges might be filed in the case, But the game warden did note that the accident occurred when the PWC reportedly came too close to the dock, and that no other watercraft was involved in the incident.
The injured man reportedly was flown to the Fort Worth hospital via medical helicopter. Whisenhunt said he visited the man in the hospital on Sunday. While on the phone with the HCN, Whisenhunt said he did not have access to the man’s name, age or place of residence. He did note, however, that the man is not a Hood County resident.
Judi Pierce, information officer for the Brazos River Authority, told the HCN in an email that BRA rangers “transported the injured person from the accident site to Thorp Spring Park where he was transported to the hospital. At that time, the Game Warden Preston Whisenhunt took over as the lead investigator.”
