Bud was born to Norman Thomas Strain Sr. and Janie Shishido on June 18, 1956, in San Marcos, Texas. He attended Granbury High School, class of 1975. Following high school, Bud worked as a heavy equipment operator and project manager in underground utility construction. He was passionate about his career, and he loved working. Bud lived in Wichita Falls and Granbury, where he had many friends and family.
Bud was a devoted father and an avid clay shooter. He was a member of the National Sporting Clays Association. While Bud could be quite competitive, he loved his group of shooting members and enjoyed their time together. His daughter, Janie Strain Cunha, shared his passion and became his best shooting buddy. Additionally, Bud enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his kids and his grandkids. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Willie Strain.
Bud is survived by his companion and friend, Debbie Phillips; his daughters Christy Strain-Plumlee and husband Michael, Janie Strain-Cunha and husband Gustavo; his sons Brady Strain, Sam Strain and wife Christina; Trey Strain and wife Ashley. His stepmother Jewel Thompson; siblings, Tweedi Jones and husband Terry, Butch Strain and wife Jeannie, Bit Strain and wife Becky, Todd Strain and wife Gamze. Bud is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life is scheduled for June 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Warren's Backyard in Granbury.
