Friends of Memorial Lane invited all citizens and visitors to join in honoring and remembering all those who have served, or are serving, and especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during their time of service. Due to weather concerns, the event took place at the Lake Granbury Conference Center. Bagpiper Robert Silvestri set the mood as he opened the ceremony with Master of Ceremony Stephen Vale kept pace with the full patriotic program. Highlights included announcements of the Campus Essay winners, MCJROTC posting of the colors, Memorial Day proclamation, flag ceremony and the unveiling of the Remembrance Wall pictured above. Even with a room packed with hundreds, one could hear a pin drop after Steve Teel, accompanied by Jerry Allen, honored the crowd with a moving performance of the Staler brothers song “More Than Just A Name on the Wall.” Scenes form the unveiling of the of a new marker in the Military Section at Memorial Lane presented and gifted to the City of Granbury by the Elizabeth Crockett Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Led by local and state DAR members.)
