Reward of $1,000 offered in work truck theft case

A diesel pickup truck that was reported stolen on July 21 from a Cresson business was recovered nine days later along with a stolen camper trailer taken from another business, and now a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. That’s according to information the Hood County Sheriff’s Office posted online.

Spur Industrial, located at 1420 Hughie Long Road in Cresson, reported the theft of a white 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel work truck, which at that time had the company logo on it.

Two “subjects” — according to the post — “broke into Spur Industrial” in the early morning hours of July 21. “The subjects wore masks over their faces to hide their identity.”

The Sheriff’s Office post continued, “During the late evening hours of July 29, 2022, the stolen truck, with the company logo removed, was observed inside the fence of B&B Self Storage in the 800 block of North Cresson Hwy (SH 171). The subjects cut the fence at the back of the property to gain access, hooked up to a bumper-pull camper trailer and left through the back fence with the camper trailer. The truck and camper trailer were recovered on July 30, 2022 in Palo Pinto County.”

The Sheriff’s Office post continues, “If you recognize the subjects (pictured) or know of someone removing company logos from a white work truck, please contact Investigator Toby Fries at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office at tfries@co.hood.tx.us or at 817-579-3318. Ext. 7611. Spur Industrial is also offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to an arrest.”

Also, information about the crime can be provided anonymously through Hood County Crime Stoppers by calling 817-573-8477.
