Riding for Rancho: Team 24 Fitness raises $2,000 for Rancho Brazos in Spin-A-Thon

Legs were pumping and wheels were spinning at Team 24 Fitness on Saturday as several community members put the pedal to the metal in support of a local nonprofit.

Team 24 Fitness — Granbury’s only private and personal training fitness studio according to its website — held a 12-hour Spin-A-Thon “Ride for Rancho” event on May 13, with proceeds benefiting Rancho Brazos Community Centers.

“On January 16, I received an email from Dawn Skinner at Team 24 Fitness asking us if they could do a fundraiser for us,” said Jamie Franco, Director of Marketing and Fundraising for RBCC in an email to the HCN. “I was so excited that this business reached out and was eager to help Rancho. I had no idea that it would be a spin-a-thon!”

From 12 p.m. to midnight on May 13, Rancho Brazos board members and staff took turns participating in 30-minute spin classes on stationary bikes to participate in the fundraiser.

Brandon Sledge, Team 24 Fitness founder and lead trainer, pedaled the entire duration of the event, with many Hood County residents making per-mile pledges on his behalf.

“Brandon was on that cycle from 12 p.m. - 12 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, and rode 150 miles...for us! If that is not dedication, I don't know what is,” Franco said in an email.

Anyone who donated or made a pledge during the “Ride for Rancho” Spin-A-Thon event also got the opportunity to put their "hand" on the fundraiser banner.

The Spin-A-Thon raised a total of $2,359 from the fundraiser — and RBCC couldn’t be more thankful.

“Brandon Sledge and Dawn Skinner have such big hearts,” Franco added. “I can't thank them and their members enough for selecting us and believing in our organization."

Ride for Rancho’s donation link of go.rallyup.com/rideforrancho will remain open until Friday, May 19 for anyone wishing to make an additional donation.

“We are so appreciative to everybody who participated, donated, and cheered us on,” said Sharla Caro, executive director of RBCC, in an email to the HCN. “A big thank you to Dawn, Brandon, and Team 24 Fitness for working tirelessly to get us more miles, donors, and for organizing this spin-a-thon for us."
