Sarah ‘Sally’ Cleveland passes away at age 95

Sarah “Sally” Douglass Cleveland, wife of the late Courts Kendall Cleveland Jr., passed away at her home Wednesday night, Feb. 15, at the age of 95.

Sally Cleveland, who was born in Fort Worth on Dec. 22, 1927, was a very generous philanthropist and supported many local, regional, and national causes.

Her funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Acton United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Acton Cemetery. Visitation time is set for 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, Wiley Funeral Home.

Courts Cleveland died at the age of 86 on May 9, 2009, at their home in DeCordova. He enlisted in the Army, served in World War II and was awarded six Purple Hearts. He successfully operated cattle ranches for more than five decades and was a member of the Hood County Livestock Raisers Association and the Independent Cattlemen’s Association. The livestock show barn at the Granbury Reunion Grounds was named for him.
