Sheriff’s Office confirms missing 15-year-old located, ‘with family’

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office was notified that as of about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, Kaylee Barbee, a 15-year-old Acton Middle School student who had been reported missing since Tuesday (Aug. 23), “had been located and was with family in the metroplex,” according to a brief news release from Lt. Josh Lane.

The news release states that the Sheriff's Office was "notified by Kaylee Barbee's family." It also notes, “Hood County Sheriff's Office did have law enforcement respond to the area Kaylee was with family and confirmed she had been located. Family was not willing to provide Hood County Sheriff's Office information as to where Kaylee was located, only that Kaylee had been located in Johnson County and that they were able to locate her through tips submitted to them through social media.”

The news release did not include any other details about the situation.
