Sheriff’s Office: Information sought on missing 15-year-old

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from the public on the status of a 15-year-old girl named Kaylee Lillian Barbee, whose father reported her as a runaway juvenile missing from their home in the Lakewood Hills subdivision on Tuesday (Aug. 23), according to a news release from Lt. Josh Lane.

Barbee, who stands 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs about 115 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes, according to the news release, is seen in a brief doorbell video walking toward a vehicle before the report was called in by the father, Clinton Barbee. She was last seen wearing an Armor X hoodie and olive green pants.

“Clinton stated that his daughter, Kaylee Lillian Barbee (15 YOA), left their residence earlier that morning to go to her bus stop for school, but later learned Kaylee had not gone to school,” the news release states. “Clinton provided a video from a doorbell camera showing Kaylee getting into an unknown make or model Gray 4 door SUV that morning carrying her backpack. It was determined that Kaylee left her cell phone at home when she left.”

The news release continues, “After the runaway report was received, the Hood County Sheriff’s Office has received additional information to further support that Kaylee was a runaway and not taken against her will. It is unknown who or how many people were in the vehicle that picked Kaylee up. Hood County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of following up on information, as it is provided, however have not been able to locate Kaylee.”

In addition, the news release continues by saying, “Hood County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the online posts by Kaylee’s family / friends, which we encourage, to assist with locating Kaylee, however (it is) requested that unconfirmed information or speculated information not be spread as it can cause confusion or be misleading.
