Stanley Aaron Spivey 1939 — 2024

Stanley Aaron Spivey, a cherished patriarch and devoted family man, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 2024, in Granbury. Born May 21, 1939, in Waco, Stan lived a life marked by kindness, generosity and a deep commitment to his loved ones.

A brief service, reflecting Stan's preference for simplicity, will be held at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Granbury Friends for Animals, 2885 Fall Creek Highway, Granbury, TX 76049, in his memory.

A man of intellect and dedication, Stan earned two bachelors degrees in science: one from Southwest Texas State University and one from Penn State University. He also obtained a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University. His service to his country was marked by his honorable discharge as a captain from the United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Beale AFB and served overseas in Vietnam. Following his military service, Stan dedicated his career to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and later the Environmental Protection Agency.

Stan was also a committed community servant, contributing more than 20 years to the boards of the Fort Worth Community Credit Union and Granbury Friends for Animals.

Stan is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Juanita Spivey, and his brother, Lynn Spivey. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marilyn Spivey. He leaves two sons and their families, Chris and Kelly Spivey and Greg and Carrie Spivey. He was a proud grandfather to Sarah, Matthew, Lane and Mathew. Additionally, Stan embraced Chris Nygaard and his wife Sue, along with their children Xander, Arcadia, and Carinthia, as part of his family for over three decades.
