TPWD: Man pronounced dead after falling from boat

A 48-year-old Dallas man was pronounced dead at a local hospital Thursday morning (Oct. 13) after he fell off a boat and went underwater into Squaw Creek Reservoir south of Granbury, officials have confirmed to the Hood County News.

On Friday afternoon the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department office in Austin, responding to an information request from the Hood County News, stated in an email that Marcelino Reza Diaz died at Lake Granbury Medical Center following the incident. Family members have been notified of his death, according to Jen Shugert with the TPWD.

“Texas game wardens are working closely with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office,” Shugert stated in an email the the HCN. She noted that more information may be released “pending further investigation.”

The TPWD email confirmed the initial information emailed from Hood County Sheriff’s Office from Lt. Joshua Lane, who noted that a 911 call came in just before 10 a.m. on Oct. 13, stating that a man had fallen off a boat, went underwater, and “did not resurface.” Lane added, “Deputies responded as an agency assist,” and Diaz was transported to the hospital by EMS.
