Troy Omer Pinkerton, Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his home in Granbury with his family by his side.

Troy Omer Pinkerton, Jr. was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Snyder, Texas, to parents Troy O. Pinkerton and Velma Louise Pinkerton.

Troy graduated from Snyder High School in 1966 and then attended San Angelo State University and West Texas A&M before serving in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge as a sergeant.

Troy married Sheila Kerr in 1971, and together they made their home in Midland, Texas, where Troy worked as a salesman in the steel industry until moving to Granbury, Texas, in 2008.

At the age of 15, Troy trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and, as an adult, served in various capacities as a deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and bus driver.

Troy had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them throughout the years with family vacations, involvement with his sons' youth sports, skiing, fishing, and many more activities that allowed him to invest his time in the family he loved.

Troy is survived by his wife of 54 years and sons John "Chip" Pinkerton and wife Tara of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; Greg Pinkerton and Lesley Bryan Pinkerton of Granbury; and sister Betty Pinkerton of Winchester, Tennessee, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Pinkerton and sister Karen Clement.

The family would like to recognize and thank Virginia, Katie, and Mitzi with Magnolia Hospice for the loving care given to Troy.

Services for Troy Pinkerton were held as an intimate family affair Tuesday, at Holly Hills Memorial Park in Granbury. The affair was officiated by Pastor Gene Kreig of the King's Highway Baptist Church located in Hurst, Texas.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
