7-10 p.m. Street dance, featuring James A’Marie Band

Sunday, May 29

10 a.m. Vendors open and gospel music

2 p.m. Patriotic Pooch Pageant

3 p.m. Pie eating contest

4 p.m. Jellybean counting contest

Monday, May 30

10 a.m. “Remembrance Ceremony of the Fallen Veterans” at Bridge Street stage

11 a.m. Sendoff for Veterans Ruck to Field of Flags

11 a.m. Local Gold Star families honored

Field of Flags – Rally Project, 5715 Matlock Road

Monday, May 30

9 a.m. 10-mile ruck starting at Memorial Lane, ending at Revolver Brewing (with a few rally point stops).

Friday, May 27

9 a.m. Flags and banners to go up for field display. The public is welcome to participate. Soft opening afterward.

Saturday, May 28

4:45 a.m. “Wear Blue: Run to Remember” participants gather on west side of Tolar. Participants will be given details at sign-up. Led by Sgt. Steve McCoy, group steps off at 5 a.m., traveling on U.S. Highway 377 to Field of Flags carrying flags that flew over the state capital.

8 a.m. Remembrance and Honor Honoring Hometown Heroes official opening (until 8 p.m. for public viewing). Banners and flags available to purchase or sponsor, patriotic music, veterans service organizations.

9-9:30 a.m. “Wear Blue: Run to Remember” participants leave Field of Flags, traveling west to the split of U.S. Highway 377 and 377 Business. Participate in one activity or both on Saturday. For signup and $15 BLUE event T-shirts, go online (www.honoringhometownheroes.org).

Sunday, May 29

8 a.m.-8 p.m. Field of Flags open for viewing.

9 p.m. Movie “Black Hawk Down” showing at dusk (not for children).

Monday, May 30

7-8 a.m. Memorial Day Ruck. Step off at Acton Cemetery, ending at the Honoring Hometown Heroes event field/U.S. Highway 377. Sufficient parking available at Acton Cemetery, but a ride back to retrieve POV's may be necessary.

8 a.m.-8 p.m. Remembrance and Honor, Honoring Hometown Heroes, open for viewing.

2 p.m. Program with Military Officers Association of America Pecan Pilot Flyover, JROTC honor guard, local singers, laying of the wreath. Retired SFC Dana Bowman, of HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation, double amputee and former Army Gold Knight will parachute from aircraft unfurling a 2,000-square-foot U.S. flag.
