Publishers Note:
We all are thankful to live in a community where people care about one another, lend a helping hand to those in need and work to affect positive change in our county. We have dozens of nonprofits and even more churches, and they all play a part in serving people in need. But all these organizations need those special individuals whose contributions allow them to be successful. As publisher of the Hood County News, I am fortunate to frequently interact with and witness those in the community who go above and beyond in lending a hand. Often, these individuals do not receive public affirmation for what they have done. It is time for them to be recognized.
It is with great pleasure I am announcing an important series of feature stories which soon will appear in the Hood County News. Starting Jan. 3, and then every other week thereafter for a total of five issues, we will have a centerpiece feature story entitled “Five Who Matter.” Each episode will be an in-depth story on a resident of Hood County who through their work, efforts, gifts and deeds, truly “matter” to our community. While these five will not be an exhaustive list of special contributors, I believe you will appreciate reading their story and better understanding their contribution.
It is my hope you will enjoy reading the stories of these wonderful people and will join me in expressing our gratitude and thanks for all they do.
