Who from Whoville is coming to Cresson? | Grinch to return to Cresson Wrench for photo-op Dec. 18

A green, furry visitor from Whoville will be back in Cresson for the second year in a row on Sunday, Dec. 18.

The Grinch will be visiting The Cresson Wrench, located at 9501 Lancaster St., from 1-3 p.m. to take pictures with children and families.

Bambi Bridges, owner of the up-and-coming Cresson Wrench restaurant, created the “Grinch at the Wrench” event last year. Due to such a huge turnout, she decided to continue the popular event for 2022.

“We had close to 200 guests last year,” she said. “The fire department even came out and the Grinch got to ride on the fire truck. It was pretty cute. We hope it'll be just as popular this year.”

The event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to take their own photos.

Hot chocolate and “other goodies” will also be served.

Bridges said she is hoping to get a good turnout to the “Grinch at the Wrench” event and wants to continue to hold events for kids in the future.

She added, “We want to keep our name out there, and we’re gonna keep trying to do things like this for kids.”

UPDATE ON THE CRESSON WRENCH

The Cresson Wrench has been in the works since 2020, but due to some unforeseeable issues, the restaurant has been unable to open.

"We're still not open, but we will be soon,” Bridges said. “We've run into some pretty costly snags. So, what we're gonna do is we're going to get a food truck to park here at the Wrench so that we can at least be in business and be able to serve people soon — not like we planned on, but at least we’ll be there.”

Bridges said the food truck — which will have the same namesake as the restaurant — will be ready around late January or early February.

“We’ll be getting started as soon as it gets here, I’ll tell you that much,” she said, with a chuckle. “We are ready. We’re calling it ‘The Cresson Wrench Starter Kit.’”

The food truck will serve burgers and gourmet hot dogs as well as beer, wine, coffee and hot chocolate.

Bridges said she also purchased a 24-foot movie screen, so they can show movies on Friday and Saturday nights.

“I’m trying to keep people there a little longer,” she said. “It’s not going to be a new release, but where else can you go and sit outside, watch a movie and drink a beer?”
