Posted

William “Bill” M. Reardon, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in his Granbury home.

Bill was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Mark and Rosella Reardon. Bill graduated from De La Salle High School in 1949 and then went to the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, graduating with a B.S. degree in architectural engineering in 1957. During a break in college, he served in the U S. Army during the Korean War, where he was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.

Bill was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1958 until 1964 in San Francisco, California, designing industrial projects. From 1964 until his retirement in 1986, Bill was employed by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force Exchange Service, designing commercial projects, mostly shipping containers in the Far East, Europe, and the United States, seven of those years living in Europe.

In 1986, Bill opened Reardon Boatworks, building traditional wooden boats and restoring antique cars and classic speed boats. After reaching the age of 90, building was limited to canoes. During the years, Bill found time to design church projects in California, New Mexico and Texas.

Bill is survived by his children, Donna Reardon of California, Mark Reardon of Georgia, step-son, Jason Dodd of Turkey, Leslie Trich of Sherman, Texas, step-daughter, Stephanie Masterson of Brownwood, Texas, and son, Patrick Reardon of Granbury; and by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill married Judith Lang, an Aggie architect, in 1981 – the love of his life. Bill was an architect and general contractor for the St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, where they were married. Judith passed away in 2012 after 31 years of a great marriage together. Together, they designed houses in Texas, New Mexico, Florida and were ready to move to Sedona, Arizona, when Judith died. Patrick was a great help in Bill’s life.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be private.
