Posted

Wilma Royce Hoyler McComas, born in Fort Worth Jan. 9, 1934, to Roy and Mabel Hoyler, went to Heaven in the arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ Sept. 9, 2026. Wilma was truly an extraordinary and accomplished lady, playing French Horn in the Poly High Marching Band and the Texas Christian University “Horned Frog” Marching Band. She was a TCU Graduate of the class of 1957, with a music degree. She taught elementary school in the Fort Worth ISD and thereafter played the French Horn in the Fort Worth Symphony and Opera Orchestras for 20-plus years. She was an avid, successful golfer and held the record with 10 Club Championships at Pecan Country Club. Wilma married Merle (Curt) Curtis (general manager at the Fort Worth Lockheed Plant) in 1968 and moved to Pecan Plantation. After Merle’s passing in 1998, Wilma met, fell in love with, and married Don M. McComas in June 2012, whereupon they indulged in their mutual favorite pastime, golf at Pecan Plantation and The Nutcracker Golf Club. Wilma is survived by her husband, Don McComas and his three children: Mathew, Courtney and Carey McComas; nephews Mark and Curt Dinkins, David and Tommy Hoyler; and nieces Pamela and Cynthia Hoyler, along with many great- and grandnephews and grandnieces. A funeral/memorial mass and reception will be held at The Good Shepherd Anglican Church (where Wilma was a devoted member for 47-plus years) Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. Good Shepherd Anglican Church @ 3600 Fall Creek Hwy., Granbury, Texas.

Wilma, better known as “Willi,” was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by family and her many friends in Pecan Plantation and elsewhere.
