Fire displaces three from home on Gee Road

A fire that was called in to emergency dispatch at about 7 p.m. Sunday, May 15 destroyed an occupied mobile home, a travel trailer and a storage building on a rental property in the 6800 block of Gee Road south of Acton, according to Hood County Fire Marshal Jeff Young.

The three occupants — one adult male and two adult females — escaped from the mobile home without injury, but five dogs perished in the blaze, Young said.

Young noted that the man who was renting the place had no insurance covering the loss of his personal property, and assistance for temporary housing is being provided by American Blue Cross representatives. The two women are temporarily staying with relatives, he said.

The cause of the fire, which likely began in a back room, is currently listed as “undetermined,” Young stated.
