Two killed in three-vehicle crash Wednesday

Posted

A three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in northeast Hood County claimed the lives of two drivers, including one from Granbury, according to information provided by DPS Sgt. Richard Hunter.

In an email to the Hood County News, Hunter stated that Zachary Brent Ewing, age 30, of Granbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene, as was 30-year-old Art Matthew Musgrove of Waller. Ewing was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup, and Musgrove was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, according to the DPS report.

The driver of the third vehicle, Laura Andress Baum, 59, of Granbury, was uninjured, Hunter noted. She was driving a 2017 Lexus ES 350.

The time of the crash, on State Highway 171 near Cresson, was listed as 7 a.m. on Nov. 9.

The DPS crash report from Hunter states that the Dodge pickup was traveling north on SH 171 and the Chevrolet was northbound. The Dodge “failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and traveled off the road.” The Dodge then “overcorrected and slid across the roadway into the southbound lane of traffic.” The Dodge “collided with” the front-right area of the Chevrolet. The pickup bed separated from the Dodge and struck the Chevrolet, according to the report.

No other information is available at this time, according to Hunter.
