ALL-DISTRICT BASEBALL: Rattlers dominate voting for postseason honors

Posted

Tolar dominated the all-district 11-2A baseball rosters with five Rattlers winning superlative awards, including junior right-hander Jackson LeCluyse being named the district's Most Valuable Player.

LeCluyse posted a 7-2 pitching record on a crowded mound where the Rattlers produced four no-hitters and a perfect game. The flawless gem and one of the no-hitters belong to LeCluyse, who had a 1.416 earned-run average.

LeCluyse switched places with last year's MVP Reis Brown, who was honored as the district Pitcher of the Year for 2022. LeCluyse was Pitcher of the Year in the district last season.

Sophomore Jessie Owen (last year's Newcomer of the Year) was voted the district’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Tolar freshman Talan Culberson picked up the district's Newcomer of the Year honor.

Sophomore teammate Talan Brown was honored as the Utility Player of the Year (co-honor) in the district for the second season in a row.

The first- and second-team all-district rosters were littered with Rattler players, including Keaton Morrison, Cade Moody, Brock Owens, and Matt Moore, tabbed as All-District first team.

The All-District second team included Tolar’s Joseph Arce, Luke Willmon and Clayton Stembridge.

The selections were made by vote of the district’s baseball coaches.
