Lady Pirates, Lady Rattlers move to second round

The Granbury Lady Pirates (15-17) advanced to the second round of the Class 5A softball playoffs, disposing of District 6-5A champion Fort Worth South Hills with ease, 9-0 and 11-0 on April 24 at Burleson High School and April 25 at Saginaw High School.

The Lady Pirates finished fourth in District 5-5A.

Allison Dafoe got the pitching victory in both games. She tossed a 4-hitter in Game 1, striking out 6 and walking a single batter. In Game 2 she hurled a 5-hitter with 5 strikeouts and no walks.

Hitting in Game 1: Preslee Carnes 3 hits, 3 RBI; Hannah Dafoe 2 hits, 2 walks, RBI, 3 stolen bases; Morgan Johnson 2 hits, RBI; Karmyn Williams double, 3 walks, RBI; Rachel Venable double, walk, RBI; Montana Bowshire double, RBI.

Hitting in Game 2: Venable 3 hits, double, 3 RBI; Carnes 2 hits, RBI; Williams 2 hits, walks, RBI; Bowshire 2 hits, double; Abby Stone 2 hits; Brenna Haynes 2 hits; H. Dafoe double, 2 stolen bases; Carli Carlton double, 2 RBI.

The Lady Pirates will next Grapevine or Joshua, May 2-4. The Lady Mustangs are the District 7-5A runners-up and the Lady Owls were third in District 8-5A.

TOLAR 13, ITASCA 0

The Lady Rattlers (18-6), champions of District 11-2A, made short work of the Itasca Lady Wampus Cats, fourth in 12-4A, 13-0 April 25 in Rio Vista.

Reese Tryon pitched a 1-hitter for Tolar, striking out 13 and walking just a single batter.

Allyson Dobbs led Tolar at the plate with 3 hits, including a double and RBI. Kanyn Deaver had 2 hits, while Senne Imel walked twice, was hit by a pitch and stole 2 bases.

The Lady Rattlers will next face Collinsville, the District 10-2A runners-up in the area round May 2-4, details yet to be announced.
