Early voting for Nov. 8 election starts Monday

Early voting for the Nov. 8 General Election begins Monday, Oct. 24, and will run through Friday, Nov. 4.

Polls will be open at Annex 1, 1410 W. Pearl St.

Days and hours are as follows: Monday, Oct. 24 to Friday, Oct. 28 — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m; Saturday, Oct. 29 — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 30 — noon to 6 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 31 to Friday, Nov. 4 — 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail (received, not postmarked) is Friday, Oct. 28.

Election-related information is posted on the county’s website, www.co.hood.tx.us. Sample ballots can be viewed there as well.

Those with questions can call the county’s elections office at 817-408-2525.

Three terms are expiring on the Granbury School Board of Trustees.

Place 5 candidates, in ballot order, are Billy Wimberly, John Mark Graves and Terry Louvin.

Place 6 candidates are incumbent Barbara Townsend and Jeff Hastings.

For Place 7, Karen Lowery is challenging incumbent Paula McDonald.

There are two city of Granbury races.

Mayor Jim Jarratt has competition from Tony Mobly and Place 2’s Eddie Rodriquez faces Pat Abell.

Two county officeholders are being challenged in their re-election bids.

Republican Katie Lang is on the ballot with Democrat Harold Granek and Republican Precinct 4 Commissioner Dave Eagle is up against Democrat Grant Wood.

There will also be city and school elections in Tolar.

For the mayor’s seat, the choice is between Matt Hutsell and Don Ives.

For Place 4, contenders are Brian Gall and Kacy Brown.

On the Tolar School Board, incumbent Justin Deaver is being challenged for the Place 7 seat by Wayne Wienecke and Kimberly Miller.
