McKINNEY—Second-ranked Lipan continued its defense of its boys 2A state title with a 47-32 win over Muenster on Saturday in the boys Region II final at McKinney North High School.
The Indians (34-4) led from the start, limiting the Hornets (26-7) to just three points through the game’s first 14:11. Freshman point guard Court Traylor scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.
In winning its 19th straight game, Lipan secured its 10th state tournament trip since 2004.
Muenster shook off 1-7 shooting in the first quarter and closed the gap to 32-22 with 1:37 left before halftime. But Lipan’s defense limited the Hornets’ opportunities in the final period. Dawson Voth led Muenster with 10 points.
