Rattlers moving up to 3A

Posted

The University Interscholastic League released its enrollment cutoff numbers for the upcoming biennial realignment Friday morning, Dec. 8. The Tolar Rattlers and Lady Rattlers will be competing in Class 3A beginning in the fall of the 2024-25 school year.

The football team will be competing in Class 3A Division II.

The Rattlers are playing Timpson for the Class 2A Division I football championship next Wednesday, Dec. 13, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington at 7 p.m.

Tolar reported an enrollment of 282 students in high school. The cutoff for Class 3A from 2024-26 will be a minimum of 254 students and a maximum of 544. Tolar is one of 231 schools that will be in 3A and one of 101 that will be playing in Division I football.

GRANBURY

The Pirates and Lady Pirates will once again be competing in Class 5A, but it was close. The cutoff for 5A is a maximum of 2,274 students and Granbury reported 2,249.

That also places the Pirates football team in 5A Division I again. Granbury is one of 253 schools in Class 5A for the next two years and one of 128 playing Division I football.

LIPAN

Nothing changes for the Indians and Lady Indians over the next two years as well. They will remain in Class 2A after reporting an enrollment of 139 and the cutoff being a minimum of 105 and a maximum of 253.

Lipan does not play football.

MORE TO COME

Now that teams know their classification, in less than two months many will learn in what district they will be competing and alongside whom.

The 2024-26 alignments will be released February 1, 2024 for football, basketball, and volleyball. District alignments for other activities will be released at a later date. More information about UIL alignments can be found at http://www.uiltexas.org/alignments.
