TxDOT to hold public meeting about 377 project

Posted

Plenty of people have opinions about U.S. Highway 377 and the Texas Department of Transportation wants to hear them.

On Thursday, TxDOT’s Fort Worth District will offer a virtual public meeting with an in-person option so that the public can learn more about the state’s plans to widen a portion of 377 in Hood County and to provide comment.

The virtual public meeting will be posted at www.txdot.gov at 6 p.m. that day. Type the keywords “US 377 in Hood County” in the Search bar.

It is not a live event.

Those who prefer to view the same materials and presentation in person are invited to do so from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Granbury Conference Center, 621 E. Pearl St.

The online presentation will be available for viewing through Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 11:59 p.m.

Comments must be postmarked or otherwise received by then.

Opinions can be mailed to: TxDOT Fort Worth District Office, Attn: Dr. Francis A. Smith, P.E., 2501 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas, 76133.

Comments may also be submitted by email to Francis.Smith@txdot.gov.

TxDOT’s Fort Worth District is proposing improvements to U.S. Highway 377 from Holmes Drive to 3,000 feet north of FM 167 (Fall creek Highway).

The stretch of 377 between Holmes Drive and State Highway 144 would be converted from a rural highway to a four-lane urban highway with a raised median, enclosed drainage and, in some places, curbs.

The project would:

  • Reconstruct and widen 377 from SH 144 to north of FM 167 from a four-lane divided highway to a six-lane divided highway with a raised, concrete-paved or vegetated median;
  • Include improvements along 144 from Autumn Ridge Road to FM 51 (Paluxy Road), a distance of about 0.4 mile;
  • Include improvements to cross street intersections, ramps and driveway connections; and
  • Add shared-use paths in each direction to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians, signalization and drainage improvements.

The proposed project might require approximately 26 acres of additional right of way and 3.4 acres of permanent drainage easements.

It would potentially displace eight commercial structures and three other non-commercial/non-residential structures, including one historical marker.

Plans include phased construction, with improvements to SH 144 from Autumn Ridge Road to FM 51 (Paluxy Road) being completed during the first phase of the project.
